Ken Amen grew up on a farming and ranching operation in northeastern Colorado, and has personally been involved in raising and training horses since 1972. Ken was the director of Equine Sciences and the Horse Training program at Northeastern Junior College for 19 years, from 1985-2004.
Though his busy schedule kept him from showing very much himself, Ken trained several horses for his kids to show in AQHA and Colorado Reined Cowhorse Association (CRCA) competition. Several of these horses qualified for the AQHYA World Show in Reining, Working Cowhorse, Calf Roping and Breakaway Roping and became AQHA Top 5 finishers in Working Cowhorse and Calf Roping. Other accomplishments include producing numerous RMQHYA Year-End Champions in the above events and money earners in the CRCA. Ken's continued involvement in ranching and western performance events helps him to stay in touch with the competitor's equipment needs.
